============================================================

    Surely we’ve all heard of Murphy’s Law: "Anything that can
go wrong, will!" In Tanzania we feel that Murphy works overtime. In a
conversation one evening in Musoma an American Christian Brother from New York
City claimed: "Murphy may live in Tanzania, but he was raised in the South
Bronx." We also have the expression "EAWA" — "East Africa Wins Again."

    But have you heard of O’Leary’s Corollary? It states:
"Murphy was an optimist." Our experience in East Africa has also helped us to
understand the "Law of Holes:" "When you are down in a hole stop digging." Yet
as an elderly missioner said: "We carry on with a sense of humor and sense of
wonder."
