Mail between
Maryknoll, New York, USA and Musoma, Tanzania is very slow — often three to
four weeks and sometimes even several months when routed through “Tasmania” as
sometimes happens!  The lay employees in the Mail Service Section at Maryknoll
just shake their heads and say, "You guys in East Africa…"  After Boston
College’s upset victory over my beloved Notre Dame football team, Father Ed
Hayes of our Maryknoll General Council sent "too many" clippings of the painful,
even humbling, defeat.  They took only six days to reach me. God must have a
very good sense of humor!
