============================================================

    One example of the power of the laying
on of hands was the celebration of 1988 World Mission Sunday in Tarime Parish
(near the Tanzanian-Kenyan border) in Musoma Diocese, Tanzania.  After the
homily the priest celebrant called all the elders to stand together in the front
of the church.  Then he laid hands on them saying: "Go and spread the faith."
Then the elders called all the parents forward, laid hands on them, and
commissioned them saying: "Go and spread the faith."  In turn the parents laid
hands on the youth.  Then the youth went through the whole church and laid hands
on all the children.
