============================================================

“The Parable of the Good Samaritan” in the Gospel of St. Luke 10: 25-37 continues to be recreated, retold and rewritten in an Africa context and setting. Parables Alive is a series of seven 5-8 minute scripture music videos produced by Paulines Audiovisuals Africa in 2010 based on seven of the most popular parables of Jesus Christ. “Who is My Neighbor?” (5:57 minutes)  is set in a contemporary Africa city. A newly arrived African traveller is robbed, beaten up and left for dead on the street by some gamblers who have lost their money in a card game. An African priest passes by. An African woman executive passes by. But a Muslim porter stops and shows compassion and generosity to the injured traveller. He carries the man on his baggage cart to a nearby hotel and the story continues in the normal way. The video ends with  a montage of people of varied backgrounds who are challenged by Jesus’ parable to “go and do the same.”
