After our
arrival in Tanzania as Maryknoll lay missioners, we visited the youth center in
Shinyanga.  Before heading for bed, we asked Maryknoll Brother Kevin Dargan for
a bottle of drinking water.  He complied but quickly apologized when we asked
about the strange material floating in the water.  He explained that the water
had been boiled and was perfectly safe even though he had no filter to clarify
it.  Then he poured our water into a green-tinted bottle.  Through the tinted
glass we could not see the particles.  It helped!
