Report of the Meeting of the African Proverbs Working Group, Nairobi, Kenya, 13 May 2008

The meeting started at 5 p.m. and ended at 6:30 p.m.

Each member described his research on proverbs and stories from various African languages including Ewe, Gikuyu, Gusii, Sheng and Swahili.

August, 2008: Ewe ( Benin , Ghana , Nigeria and Togo ) Proverb – Cephas Agbemenu. On the theme of “Reconciliation and Peace.”

Professor Cephas Agbemenu was awarded a grant of $500 to compile a Booklet of 100 Ewe ( Ghana ) Proverbs that would include African symbols as illustrations of the proverbs. 10 copies (photocopied) will be distributed in the normal way.
The next meeting will be at Kenyatta University on a date to be decided later.
