============================================================

    A
young boy and his grandmother came to my house in Mugumu, Tanzania to ask for
a drink of water.
The boy had stepped on a thorn and was limping.  Noticing that he was wearing
only one plastic sandal, I asked if that was because of his sore foot.  "No," he
replied. "That was all my mother had to give me!’
