It was the middle of December in Tanzania and Paulina was ready to give birth.
She reminded me of another expectant mother in another country in another time
of history. Now Paulina was big, really big. She traveled by foot and bicycle
over 40 miles trying to reach a private hospital to give birth. But she didn’t
quite make it in time. So she gave birth to premature triplets. Then she chose
to come to our Old Maswa Maternity Ward because she knew she would be well
received and well cared for. There are people who still remember the triplets
as they stayed with us for over a year. We like children and we like children
to be healthy.
