============================================================

Many people in Senegal chew half a cola nut every morning and every afternoon.
The cola nut is a natural caffeine good for appetite, depression, aphrodisiac
and more.  There is a little story about a woman Aminata who uses part of each
day sitting in front of her neighbor Ndaga’s house in a new embroidered dress.
She spends all her time visiting friends and receiving friends at her home.  She
has several maids that do all the housework for her.  Ndaga does all the work at
her own home and has just two or three well-worn outfits.  She feels that
Aminata likes to flaunt her riches.  One day Aminata was passing slowly in front
of Ndaga’s house taking care not to walk on the bottom of her grand boubou
(“fancy dress”).   Ndaga took this as a provocation and said this Wolof (spoken
in Senegal and The Gambia) proverb to Aminata:  The one who only has half a
cola nut doesn’t envy the one with a full basket of colas.
