“How do you do it?”

 I enquired

 of a long-standing Kenyan friend

    A wise man

    A loved man

    An extremely busy man

I was feeling bogged down

stressed, annoyed

with endless administration

with corruption

with the streams of people

filling my office

at Kenyatta University

seeking monetary assistance

    His words

    were words of wisdom

       “I never turn anyone away

       I listen to all

I give to all who ask

In Africa

wisdom is being aware

of others

A wise person

helps others

    I shook my head

    in amazement

       He has streams and streams

of people flooding his office daily

He is wise

He is happy

He is open to all people
