============================================================

When the
Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers celebrated their 50th anniversary in Tanzania in
1996, they invited the first Maryknoll Sisters who served in that country to
return from the United States for the celebration.  Arriving in Tanzania the
three Sisters presented their passports to the immigration officer.  He looked
at the passports, and then asked which one was Sister Joan because he detected
an error.  Puzzled, the Sisters asked what he thought was wrong. "It’s nonsense;
he said, "to think anyone born in 1919, like it says here, would still be
alive." Sister Joan replied, "If you think that’s old, wait until you see the
dates of the others.  I’m the youngest!"
