============================================================

    In a certain
village known as Lubao in western Kenya there lived Mr. and Mrs. Bahati.  They
were blessed with an only son whom they named Upendo.  Mr. and Mrs. Bahati were
good Christians so they desired that their child be baptized.  At the age of 10
years, Upendo’s parents passed away in a tragic road accident.  Upendo was left
an orphan.  Fortunately, he was taken by his grandmother who taught him about
praying to Jesus from this early stage.  He grew up knowing that God was truly
a-God-with-us, ever present among  people.  So he always prayed to God in every
circumstance because God had become his intimate friend.  He could pray to God
anytime without fear.  One day his grandmother became very ill.  Many people
thought she would die.  However Upendo believed that God would heal her since
she was the only person he had.  Upendo prayed every day to God in trust and
hope that his grandmother would be well again.  He believed that God would
answer his prayers.  Indeed, God heard his prayers and restored his grandmother
to good health.  Upendo said, “God is my intimate friend whom I can talk to
anytime.”
