When I die
I sit below the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro
And feel the pains in the hearts of your people
The prayers
Which sweep through the sky of beautiful birds
Show me the place you’ve always belonged
I stand at the edge of the Indian Ocean
Close my eyes and read my unconscious mind
The wind
That brings the smell of ever-famous Islands
Tells me how important you’ve always brought us together
You struggled for my living and survival
You freed me from the swords of my killer
The strokes I never heard
Which went deep in the skins of my ancestors
Tell me how protective you’ve always been to me
You cried for them to be released
You were jailed for me to be recognized
Your yearns
Which went in the souls of your masters
Tell me how important you’ve always been to me
I close my eyes and say to God
When I die, you call me there
When I live, you want me here.
