A Tanzanian farmer started raising pigs in Mara Region.
Soon he had a fine herd. But he failed to sell a single pig to the local Luo
people. No one had ever eaten pork in this area so everyone was reluctant to buy
the pigs. Finally in desperation the farmer slaughtered one pig and took it to
the local market. Then he grilled it and gave portions away to the local people.
Due to the rich salt and fat content (not present in the local diet) the Luos
enjoyed the pork very, very much. The next morning the farmer woke up to find
that all his pigs had been stolen/taken during the night. In the following weeks
everyone enjoyed eating pork in the whole region.
